Where were you arrested for DUI in Arizona?

Why ask? Because it is one of the single biggest factors affecting the outcome of your case. The jurisdiction of your arrest matters. If you are in any of the cities or towns in Maricopa County, you can be arrested by that city's police department, by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) or the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (except for Carefree, Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, Gila Bend, Guadalupe, Litchfield Park and Queen Creek, which don't have their own city police and get their main law enforcement services from the Sheriff).

The major exception to the rule that city police patrol their own jurisdiction are on "task force" events, where many Valley police forces team up and cover a larger area on DUI saturation patrols and roadblocks. For example, if you are arrested in Scottsdale by a Gilbert cop and are scheduled to appear in Scottsdale Municipal Court, you were likely arrested during a task force.
